Discover Zanzibar’s Natural Treasure

Jozani Forest is a truly unique and enchanting destination—a national park located right on the island of Zanzibar. Covering an area of 44 square kilometers, it is home to the endemic Red Colobus monkeys, one of the rarest and most endangered primate species in the world. Today, their population is estimated at around 2,000 to 2,500.
Unlike many other monkey species, the Red Colobus monkeys are gentle, calm, and approachable. They won’t snatch your belongings or cause mischief—instead, they might simply stroll past you, offering the perfect opportunity to snap a fun photo of a monkey looking right into your eyes.
This lush forest is their sanctuary—a place where they are born, grow up, mate, and raise their young. On our Monkeys Tour Zanzibar, you’ll have the chance to observe them in their natural habitat and learn more about their fascinating behavior and social life.
But the experience doesn’t end with monkeys. You’ll walk through a real jungle, explore mangrove forests, and—if you're lucky—spot bush babies, lizards, and a variety of other wildlife. Jozani Forest is also home to over 50 species of butterflies and 40 species of birds, making it a paradise for nature lovers.
Many of the forest's plants and trees are also known for their medicinal properties, traditionally used as natural remedies by local communities.
More than just a wildlife adventure, Jozani Forest is a place to relax, reconnect with nature, and recharge. Surrounded by towering green trees and the sounds of the forest, you’ll feel an immediate sense of peace.
Your knowledgeable guide will walk with you through the Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park, sharing the secrets of the forest and ensuring a memorable and educational experience.
