Zanzibar is a paradise

Day 1: Zanzibari Arrival

You will be picked up upon your arrival at Zanzibar Airport by our representative and transferred to Stone Town. You will spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Overnight: Tembo Hotel – Prime Room (Bed and Breakfast)

Day 2: Zanzibar, Stone Town to Nungwi

Today you will enjoy a Stone Town Tour in the morning and a Spice Tour in the afternoon.

Lunch: On own account
Dinner and Overnight: Mnarani Beach Cottages – Standard Sea View

Morning: Historical Stone Town Tour – 3 Hours

Today is a wonderful introduction to Zanzibar and gives you a feeling of its rich cultural heritage. You'll get a comprehensive view of the history and architecture of Stone Town, walking through its narrow alleys and seeing sand and stone ancient houses, some over 200 years old with Arab and Indian carved doors.

The tour begins at the main city market opened in 1904, where tropical fruits, vegetables, spices, and fresh fish are sold. The next stop is the Anglican Church of Christ, built in 1873 by Bishop Steers on the site where slaves were once auctioned.

Other highlights include visits to:

  • Sultan’s Palace Museum – Built in the late 1890s for members of the Sultan’s family
  • House of Wonders – Built in 1883 as a Royal Ceremonial Function Palace
  • The African House – Formerly the English Club
  • Forodhani Park – Great spot to enjoy the sunset, local dishes, and fresh sugarcane juice
  • The Old Fort – Built by Arabs for defense against the Portuguese

Afternoon: Spice Tour – 3 Hours

In the afternoon, you’ll drive to the northern part of the island, Nungwi, stopping along the way for the Spice Tour. This tour offers insights into why Zanzibar is known as “The Spice Island.”

You'll experience a sensory journey through spice plantations, seeing, smelling, and tasting a wide variety of spices and tropical fruits such as jackfruit, pineapple, banana, green coconut juice, durian, love apple, litchi, and soursop. Spices include cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, black pepper, turmeric, nutmeg, and more.

The tour also includes visits to:

  • Kidichi Persian Baths – Built in the 1850s by Seyyid Said bin Sultan for his Persian wife, Princess Sheherezade
  • Maruhubi Palace Ruins – Built by the third Sultan of Zanzibar, Seyyid Barghash, for his 99 concubines
  • Dr Livingstone House – Built in 1860 for Sultan Majid. Dr Livingstone stayed here before his final mainland expedition

Day 3: Zanzibar, Nungwi

Spend the day relaxing on the beautiful beaches of Nungwi.

Day 4: Zanzibar, Departure

At the agreed time, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your flight.
